Preparing for The Second Coming & New Jerusalem

Christ will appear to His people in the New Jerusalem, a stronghold for the faithful remnant. These are they who resist joining the Babylonian destiny of confusion, chaos, violence and plunder. The saints of God are commanded to prepare for the second coming. All men are commanded to flee from Babylon, come to Zion, and prepare for the great day of the Lord.

The New Jerusalem will be the only place of peace and safety in a coming day. Those from all nations will gather to it. The inhabitants will appear terrible to those who would seek to destroy them (D&C 45:66-75). Christ will then appear to his people at New Jerusalem (D&C 42:35-36).

The Lord corrects Shaker doctrine that early converts brought into the church. Christ does not come as a woman or man traveling on the earth (D&C 49:22-28). God does not forbid the eating of meat but rather gave us animals for food, raiment and abundance (D&C 49:18-19).

Since the Word of Wisdom revelation is a revelation wherein we take the best wisdom and learning available to us and apply the spirit to it, it’s a test of sorts. D&C 89 is a modified version of the temperance movement credo of Joseph Smith’s day. We have a different set of evil and conspiring men in our modern times (D&C 89:4). Therefore, we should discover the poisons they offer us today and avoid them. These exist in food, medicine, and things we expose our bodies to. Physical health links to spiritual health, so we should take diligent care for both. Caring for out=r bodies and spirits is required for preparing for the second coming

There’s a detailed prophecy about the generation in which we now live and how we are to prepare for the Second Coming. All those who call themselves saints have a commandment to flee from Babylon, come to Zion, and prepare for the great day of the Lord (D&C 133:1-74), or the second coming.
